Oscars’ Politics

Having a political blog about TV and Movies means that the Academy Awards are like my Super Bowl. No where else are Film and Politics so prevalent. First of all I felt that with the exception of Host’s Jimmy Kimmel’s shots at Donald Trump the political statements were more subtle and less blatantly obvious this year which I greatly appreciated. You could even give Jimmy a pass because his job is to entertain the crowd, and what better way to do that then make fun of our Republican president in front of a bunch of liberal actors and actresses. But, I never understood why actors and actresses felt the need to take their 45 second award acceptance speech and turn it into a political statement. Just thank the people who helped you get to that spot in your career and really let them know how much they mean to you, instead of giving us your elitist opinion on topics that don’t affect you at all and to which you cannot fully sympathize.oscars-jimmy-kimmel-to-host-2017-academy-awards_huh7
